Frugal Family Fun- Best Tip Ever

We just love love museums and science centers!

One of my best ever Frugal Family Fun tips- Get yourself an ASTC Passport & have access to 300 + museums and science centers across the country. The Association of Science and Technology Centers has a list available per state for each affiliate within the various cities.

The idea is to support your local science center and then visit the others through the year. Some centers *labeled check ID's - require that you live 90 miles away from the museum you want to visit for free.

I have searched the list and have found that the Charlotte County History Center (which is quite close to me) is one of the least expensive memberships available. If your local science center checks ID's it wouldn't be valid to purchase one somewhere else. Our area does not. Check the list carefully before deciding where to purchase. Also- call and ask the local center if they offer homeschool family discounts. I saved $50 on the family pass for MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) and enjoyed reciprocal aquarium visits as well.

For a mere $35.00 per year, you can join the Charlotte County History Center -  your entire family can play until their little hearts are content at some of the best museums in the country.

Check out the links below to gain further information and see what you think:

Museum Of Science and Industry (MOSI )- Tampa, Florida

They played, and climbed. They flew a jet airplane. They ran their own grocery store & even survived through a simulated tornado and wildfire. They explored a news room, a weather station & learned about the human body.

In our area- we have access to MOSI in Tampa, G-Wiz in Sarasota, Imaginarium in Fort Myers, Great Explorations in St. Pete, and more- all within easy range for a day trip.

We have used our $35 family pass at multiple museums in
Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

The Louisville Science Center is a terrific place for children and their adults! We enjoyed it immensely.

Whether you are looking for some affordable family fun during the summer break - or looking for a way to keep your homeschool curriculum inspiring and fun- you just can't beat this deal!

We purchased a Zoological Society membership this year for about $58 and it's good at zoo's and aquariums throughout the nation. We have already had one zoo trip and aquarium trip and have planned to do one more of each by the fall. In two trips we've already paid for it. Plus we can check out what is available near any other trips we may be taking and take advantage of the free admission or discounts. Well worth it to me!

We usually get the zoo and the transportation museum memberships each year. Although the science museum would be a runner up, if we ever get tired of those two!
