Beach Daze! Our Week in the Great Outdoors:

First of all - this is a very exciting picture of a bunch of cousins in Sanibel- some of our favorite long lost relatives showed up on vacation & we were able to catch up with them for a little cousin time!

This little guy likes to fish. We almost named him "Fisher" - if we had only known!

Another day of fishing...... he wanted to try the cast net.

While the other boys swam and rode the waves......

This guy FISHED!

And Fished!
(these were taken over the course of several days)

We did finally manage (on the 3rd day) to get him to boogie board!

One day we headed to the pool!

There was no fishing at the pool...
so he learned to swim!

One the way home... we saw this guy...

He was big! He was on the side of the road-

And now we are off... on another adventure...

I think we'll go swimming!
(It's really HOT here)

This post is part of the Outdoor Play  Link-Up!

And...

What did my children/ we learn at the beach?

1. We collected fossils- sharks teeth to be exact- we talked about the different sharks & we have a card that shows us which ones belong to what kind of shark!

2. It's like the best PE ever!

3. When the water went from calm to quite choppy we went from calmly fishing to riding the waves. They learned about the power of water. We often discuss the importance of taking care of our water. We also always look to pick up extra trash on the beach when we are there.

4. We checked on a couple of the sea turtle nests that we are keeping an eye on. We would love love to be there when they hatch- keeping our fingers crossed!

5. We observed and identified several wading birds including a Great Blue Heron and several White Ibis. We got very excited about watching about 8-9 different Osprey catch fish!

6. We learned that any day that we play together can be like a vacation & that we live in a very special place!

7. We learned to respect and admire God's beautiful creation & fostered a desire to learn more about it!

8. We learned that learning is FUN!

9. Oh, and that you just never know where you might see an alligator in Florida!

Can't wait to get my kids back to the beach! We are headed there in November so not too much longer to wait. These pictures are great. Some very good outdoor play time had.

Always lovely to meet a fellow Floridian and homeschooler! We love the gulf coast and I am grateful for all the resources you listed. Thank you! Sanibel and Captiva are on our list this summer to visit, but lately I've been hearing about Anna Maria Island too! So much to choose from :). We visit St. Pete often as my husband has business there regularly. Anyway, I'll following along with you!

More beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing on Outdoor Play! And oh my gosh, I think I might have a heart attack if I ran into an alligator on the side of the road!!!

It is so unbearable hot where I live, too, and I welcomed getting to escape for a minute in your photos. But, I would have run from that gator--after I took his picure!
:)
