Lewis & Clark - pictures from Falls of Ohio SP

The first picture in this series from the Falls of the Ohio State Park is a picture of one of the most valuable yet "unofficial" members of the expedition team. York- was the slave owned by William Clark. Although he was respected by the members of the team & was even allowed to vote when it came to making decisions along the trail, he was not rewarded with his freedom until more than ten years after the end of the famous cross-country trek.
The second picture shows the official uniform of the officers on the expedition, although it wasn't too long before they were dressed in more "rugged" attire made from animal skin.
These two pictures show two of the different style boats that were used along the journey.
