Yesterday's Craft- St Patty's Day

St. Patricks Day craft - We followed directions (sorta) from Family Fun Magazine online. They also have great crafts in their printed mag.

Their little leprechauns looked a little better than ours- but I suspect that they didn't have 5 & 6 year old pirates working on their craft. We're special.

We used "benderoos" for the beard, hair, and little feet. We used craft foam for the hat brim, and acrylic paint for the rest on our our paper rolls.

Of course, we weren't just making silly crafts. While working on our cutting, and painting, and having fun- we learned where Ireland is located and some of its history. We learned about the country and its people. It's easy to sneak in a little learning when you have their attention and they are having fun!

You can get the magazine delivered to your home with a discounted subscription. (No, they don't pay me to say that- or know I exist- I just really like their stuff and think you will enjoy it too!)

They looked really cute and great. I need to read up on that whole St. Patrick's Day thing. I have to admit my ignorance on why it is celebrated. All those years I wore green to school on the 17th or forgot and got pinched, I never even knew what it was about. I asked my husband the other day and he was like "I don't know either." Dumbfounded us two at the mall walking and pondering on that day.

I cannot wait till my kiddos are old enough to do these type of crafts. Right now they are drawing and painting and having a blast at that. This is your swap buddy. I am going to go peruse your page some more. Later.

The leprechauns turned out so cute! I used to have a subscription to FF and I loved it. It's been a few years now but I still check out their website now and then for ideas! :)
