A Homeschool Mother's Journal and Joy Pockets!

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…  I am working on the #B90days program
So far it is going well- I'm actually a bit ahead! (oh shock) I love reading
the Bible from start to finish and realize that I haven't actually done it before!
(not from cover to cover)

In our homeschool this week… We're in CHINA! (virtually)
Doing a lot of organizing and planning- the storm before the calm!

We are also studying Alaska because my 10yr old is going on
a BIG trip with my parents for almost 2 full weeks!
Making a beautiful Lapbook- we've done lapbooks before but were inspired (well, mommy was) at the homeschool convention by the use of scrapbook paper - I've held back using my fave scrapbook paper on these kiddie project, cause I have a "thing" for pretty paper and hold out hope of someday returning to scrapbooking- BUT- after seeing such beautiful displays of lapbooks, I've decided to stop hoarding my paper! LOVE IT - so far.

Cooking 101- AWESOME Key Lime Pie

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share… My fave advice
is have FUN with it - enjoy the learning process with them
and your children will inherit a "love for learning" that will
last a lifetime! (and get outside as much as possible)
I am inspired by… Ann Voskamps book- "1000 Gifts"
You can win a copy from me by simply leaving a comment below
that you'd like to read this fabulously poetic masterpiece!
It's a life changer- Truly! Drawing will take place this Sunday and winner
will be posted here at Adventurez.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… keepin it local this week-
down time matters in between adventures! ,had a GREAT book club
meeting (thank you Marilyn and Cooper!) brilliant idea- my friends son
came up with the idea for a kids "book club" - the thing is, they can share
any book they've been reading and all ages are welcome. It was fabulous
to see all the different age kids telling about their books. My oldest shared
"Soul Surfer" - 6yr old spoke about the shark book we recently read- and my
5 yr old recanted almost EVERY page of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"

My favorite thing this week was… P made a homemade "Key lime Pie" - for
our "Cooking 101" class that we've just started and it was DE-LI-CI-OUS!
He was so proud & the other boys enjoyed helping plan and make steak with
portabella mushrooms & onions for dinner.

We have begun compiling pics
and recipes that are of interest to us in a BINDER (love) - this is gonna be fun!

What’s working/not working for us…  well, for me- I'm really loving the
B90days- if it were drug out through the year- I'd get lost along the way or let
life side track me. By reading through in 90 days and having a supportive group
of women doing the same thing- I am staying on track and believe I will
realize my goal. So excited that it is actually working for me!
Questions/thoughts I have… God always knows just what we need- right when
we need it most!
Things I’m working on… still working on our "Passports2Adventurez"
cannot Wait to share it with ya'll - great fun!

Also excited about our "native Alaskin dog sled bag" that we are making (ours
is out of paper- not hide- but it's looking great) the little guys are stringing beads
made from clay and P designed the art on the front of the bag- LOVE it!

Loving the Lapbook (about Alaska) mentioned above- pictures later!
I’m reading… Well, with the #B90days program- the only thing I have time to read right now is - The Bible- I have to finish it cover to cover in 90 days! (great program)
Just finished the Ann Voskamp "1000 Gifts" book- (sign up to win it- just leave a comment that ya want it)
I’m cooking… Chinese food for our "Passport2Adventurez", cookies, salmon patties, key lime pie (all at different times- haven't COMPLETELY lost my mind.)
Working with the boys in the kitchen for our cooking class is really fun.

I’m grateful for… Sweet blog friends- What an encouraging group you are!
I’m praying for…  Relief from pain. The rain this week is NOT a good thing
for me- I've been snappy and well, not very lovely. It hurts all over and it's getting
rather old. Rhumatiod Arthritis stinks. Not a fan.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

has so many wonderful links and resources to check out - if you
homeschool or just love learning with your kiddos and doing
special projects- definately worth a look!

joy pockets

Joining Joy Pockets from Bohemian Twilight-
my bloggy friend MJ turned me on to it & it is a fabulous way
to take a look back at what I call "grateful moments"
during your week. It allows me to remember the grace and to keep my eyes
on the things in my life of which I am most thankful.

*living in a place where I have access to medicine
(glass 1/2 full- right?)

*husband who doesn't complain or resent about helping
(he's had to do a lot of that this week especially)
and he's cute/handsome!

*rediscovering and reinventing my love for paper
via lapbooking with the kids
pretty, colorful, artsy paper designs

*preparing my oldest for a very exciting trip to Alaska
(how fortunate to have parents who - although leaving me here-
are taking him on an adventure of a lifetime)
loving learning about where he is going and
digging up old stories of explorers that are so much fun!

*quiet time where God speaks to my heart
(and I can actually hear Him because IT"S QUIET)

*lip smacking homemade KEY LIME PIE
for school credits no less!

*Florida sunsets!

*long hot relaxing baths that heal the body
and soothe the soul
