Homeschool Mother's Journal- My Time Flies!

In my life this week…
Spending time at my sisters with my 3 nephews! Yes, you did the math right- that would be 6 little boys running around ages (just turned) 3, 3, 5, 6, 6, and 10 ! They are a riot- the little guys are twins and don't want to wear any clothes (I've been babysitting) so, NAKED bike riding it was! (on the back porch) :)

In our homeschool this week…
We got our "Alaska" study project kicked off before leaving town- see above note. . .

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Most of my family lives in Orlando - my sisters family is moving into new digs this week (in my parents neighborhood- no less)

My favorite thing this week was…
Playing with these babies! They are the CUTEST  little monkies!

Questions/thoughts I have…
thoughts- It's exhausting, but I am enjoying remembering back when my little guys were that age!

I’m reading…
I just finished "The Giver" with my 10  yr. old- I am glad I was reading with him because there is  a part of the book that is quite disturbing and I was able to talk him through it. He is a smart kid and even though it was a bit mature for him- it was worth it. There are some valuable lessons and it opened up quite a lot of dialogue between the two of us for some deep discussions. I love love hearing and getting to know how my boys think about life in general!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
reminiscing-  This one is from just 3 short years ago:

My 10 year old now:

and when he was just a babe:

The boys now:

Recent family pic:

I think I may feel a mushy post coming on about
how far too quickly they grow.
(well. . . gotta run . . . break up a little boy fight!)

*We will be visiting the Orlando Science Museum this week-
I'll let ya know what I think!

Happy Homeschooling and Parenting,

Your family is gorgeous Kelli! Love that photo of all of you on the beach. Your oldest is a handsome guy, and what a cutie as a baby. Have a great weekend!

The Giver is one of my favorite YA books but I know what part you are talking about and I am glad you read with him. It is a great critical thinking book.
My oldest is 10 as well. The time really is flying by...

Nice to meet you! Thank you for visiting my site! Wow, 6 boys! I applaud you - I have one and he's a bundle of energy. In fact, with the three girls, their excitement generally fuels his! I completely relate to the awe of time rushing by all of us. If only we could stand still for another brief moment. Enjoyed reading your week's adventures!

Thanks for following my blog - I'm now following you too :) I know all about nakedness. My just turned 5 year old boy hates to keep clothes on - it's a battle but I do my best to get him to understand modesty in front of his sisters and I. I've never read The Giver but I want to and I've wondered if it's something I should do with my 9 1/2 year old this year, maybe I'll read it first and decide. Thanks again for the follow.

What a beautiful family photo, Kelli! That's a framer! I'm attempting to read more YA books since I'll be volunteering in a middle school library this coming school year, so I'll have to read The Giver. Some of the YA books are tough, aren't they, but so good!
