Day #23 - When You're Stuck Inside

I realize that it's not possible to get outside every day of the year. Bad weather, sick kids, and plain 'ole down days can sometimes keep you indoors. As much as we love being outdoors, there are plenty of times when we need to stay in. It's a perfect time to plan and prepare for your outdoor adventures!

On a recent day when the weather was rainy, we came up with a couple of fun ideas to share with you. We used some plain old paper grocery bags (*upcycling *thinking green *cheap) to create these little "treasure maps" for the boys to play with. (It made for a fun history lesson while we were at it). They used a couple of sticks from the yard to roll the ends up like an old scroll. We crumpled the paper a bit to make it look older and just drew a simple map with a compass in the corner.

Once the sun finally came out, they had so much fun stomping around the yard following their maps!

Another fun idea is to use inexpensive composition books and make "Nature Journals" or "Travel Journals" - we glued some of the paper bags and pieces of maps (it was actually packaging for maps - formerly bound for the trash can) to make journals the boys could use to record information we study on different countries. It's an easy way to be creative when you're stuck in the house and helps you plan for more adventures to enjoy with the family in the great outdoors!

I hope you enjoy your weekend! Get outside to enjoy the beauty of God's Creation if you can!

Psalm 104:24-25
"How many are Your works, oh Lord! In wisdom You made them all; the earth is
full of Your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures
beyond number- living things both large and small."

Thanks for stopping by! Y'all come back,

*I adore your comments!
