Homeschooling With Boys

The Homeschool Mother's Journal
In my life this week… trials and blessings - for another post but, when I needed prayer in an emergency the homeschool mama twitter crew stepped up & encouraged and prayed- we needed immediate protection and we got it! I am grateful-
In our homeschool this week… The Adventures Of Munford! Wow-
fabulous way for us to study the Revolutionary War! (there are other choices in the series) It had me at "hello" - and has kept the boys attention each day - I have to read 2-3 chapters every day for homeschool they don't want me to put it down!

After reading we discuss what we've read - the danger involved for those who stood up for our freedom. Then we do some geography which has led us "across the pond" to the United Kingdom.

Even though I'll have to work backwards a little bit to get back to Thanksgiving - it all works together & we are having fun!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…see above!  Enjoy the journey- pray over your homeschool and God will bless it! Keeping my boys busy in the great outdoors helps to get them interested in our studies - they are curious creatures themselves- they just need a little inspiration and leadership!
I am inspired by…You, You, You and everything you write, and post on Pinterest! :)
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…each other! We had a great time doing an outdoor movie with our church too-
My favorite thing this week was… writing love letters to my sons - so happy I did it!
What’s working/not working for us…I finally took steps to remove someone from our lives that was necessary. (I know-drama) I don't do drama - and therefore I'd put it off and ignored a problem for far too long. I am just grateful that God's grace has me covered leaving minimal damage to my family.
(my husband rocks - he's so good at putting up with me)
Questions/thoughts I have… I am just grateful - God is faithful & He is blessing me with encouragement that no one even knew I needed
Things I’m working on…encouraging my family- Have you seen Ashley's e-book? "Build a Better Spouse" - It's on my side bar! (hint hint) it's awesome!
I’m reading…"Build a Better Spouse" - "Adventures of Munford" and working through Proverbs  with Mom's Toolbox -the link will take you to my secret blog - Unendingrace where I'm writing about it
I’m cooking…today we are planning some apples & cinnamon tarts (looking forward to that apple cinnamon smell through the house!)
I’m grateful for…I've started my gratitude journal - see it here- if you haven't read 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp - do it!!!!!
I’m praying for…my youngest son (among other things) He has challenges he's never asked for - "chemicals" from birth mother & the first 8 months of his life we will never know the horrors of - God is healing him, blessing him, growing him!!!

What a wonderful week you have had! I love when boys are allowed to be boys and have a hands-on fun homeschool experience! :-) I am going to check out the Munford book you mentioned. Sounds like something my crew might like.

The rainbow picture is absolutely stunning.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your kind comments and follow. I am now following you back.

Many blessings,
Lisa

It sounds like you had a great week. I love the pictures of the butterfly and the rainbow. Those are beautiful.

I will just have to write a post about my banana freezing.

Sounds like an awesome week:) I love read alouds, especially when the girls get into it like your boys seem to have done. Yay for time spent outdoors and at play! Love the photo and the scripture to accompany it- one of my favorites.

Glad for your blessings this week!! I haven't been on Twitter as much - I hope your emergency got worked out! I would have been praying for you if I'd seen it! :)

I love reading such encouraging blogs from homeschooling mommies! J have just recently started preschool homeschool and have been feeling strongly convicted that it is Gods plan for our family. The main challenge that I'm experiencing is that I am also praying for my husbands salvation. You are very blessed to have an amazing support system! I will continue to follow your blog for a source of inspiration in my journey.

Wow! So many things you wrote about sounded like my life! I've been praying about removing something negative from our life....my sweet, adopted twin boys were born with health issues from their lack of prenatal care.... I think I need to visit your blog more often. Hope you don't mind if I read through your old posts :)
