Kids in the Kitchen - Link up #11- Homestyle Cooking

Welcome! I'm partnering with my friend Carrie from Young Living Oil Lady
To bring you the Kids in the Kitchen Link Up!

This week - I'd like to share an old family recipe and a new family recipe
both are easy and wholesome

Black Eyed Peas are packed full of iron and protein - when my children were babies - I fed them a
couple of tablespoons each at breakfast, lunch, and dinner - I blended it with bananas, applesauce,
and organic beef to make my own baby food. These days the boys prefer them with a little hot sauce

After rinsing your dried black eyed peas - put them in a pot and cover them with water
 and a little olive oil
leave them to simmer all day (or at least 3-4 hours) add chicken broth for added flavor

Wash, peel, and chop apples and place bite size pieces in a pan - sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar
squeeze 1/2 a lemon over the top of the chopped apples and drizzle on a bit-o-honey!

Cook apples in 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes
roll out your dough 1/4 inch thick - 1/8 inch thick - use croissant dough or make your

Cut rectangles out of dough then cut on diagonal to make triangles
Spoon apple mixture into each triangle and roll up - place on greased tray and sprinkle
with sugar cinnamon mixture - dab with butter and bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes until brown

Children can help chop apples - squeeze lemon - spoon apples - roll dough - sprinkle sugar and cinnamon
Prepare yourself for reactions like this:

It's THAT good! You'll probably get flowers - like I did:

I really enjoy your comments! Please be sure to visit a few of the others who post
so we can get to know each other and show support - not to mention all the yummies!
