Kids in the Kitchen - Link up #27 - Easy Summer Supper

Teaming up with my good friend Carrie @YoungLivingOilLady  to bring you this fun link up each week.
We know that food cooked at home is healthier for the body and also that spending time in the kitchen
preparing and enjoying food brings families together. What are you cooking this week?

Our easy summer supper:

We did have to turn the stove on to cook the rice - but if you have a rice cooker you can even avoid that!
We did cheat a bit because for our Sunday supper - we had baked chicken with several large pieces left over - and decided to put them to good use on Monday night for this summer supper.

The little guys worked together to pull the leftover chicken off the bone and break it into bite size pieces.

While the rice was cooking - big brother (with daddy's help) chopped some yummy fresh salad veggies
like cucumber, tomato, onion, and avocado!
When the rice was done - we mixed in the chicken bites and plated the food!

Brown rice would make this dish a perfectly healthy meal - but we are in the process of using up a large tub of plain white rice. I decided not to get hung up on it - because the rest of the dinner is extremely healthy.

The boys practically needed 2 spoons to shovel it in - they love it!
